Roger S. Wood Bath: Roger S. Wood, age 89, of Bath, NY formerly of Wayne, NY, died Saturday September 16, 2023 in the comfort of his home with his loving son at his side. Honoring his wishes there will be no prior calling hours. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayne Fire Dept., P.O. Box 91, or the Wayne American Legion Meade-Price Post 1208 Inc., P.O. Box 101, Wayne, NY 14893 Roger was born August 24, 1934 in Dundee, NY, one of 5 sons of the late Stanley F. and Edith M. Mattason Wood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A lifelong area resident, having lived most of his life in Wayne, he retired from the paint department of Mercury Aircraft, in Hammondsport, after over 40 years of employment. Mr. Wood was a former member of the Wayne Fire Department, the Wayne American Legion, and the Penn Yan Moose Lodge. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, the Buffalo Bills, and NASCAR with his former favorites of #3 and #24. He is survived by his son Cary Wood with whom he made his home; a daughter Chrissy (Brett) Garrettson of Clarksville, TN; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters Shirley Armstrong of West Yellowstone, and Betty Berl of Rochester, NY; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by a son Neil Wood; 4 brothers Jack, Richard, Loren, and his own twin brother Raymond Wood, and a sister June Depew.
