May J. Jerome Dundee: May J. Jerome, age 91, of Dundee, NY died Friday September 30, 2011 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY. Honoring her wishes there are no calling hour. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, NY. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request memorial contributions be made in May's memory to the Dundee Fire Company, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837, or to the charity of the donor's choice. May was born May 25, 1920 in Scotia, NY, the daughter of the late Romaine C. and Florence Kidd Williams. She graduated from Scotia High School in 1938; and went on to graduate the following year from Mildred Elley Business School in Albany. She was hired immediately by General Electric of Schenectady where she worked for six years. On Dec. 7, 1945 in Scotia, she married the late Lee N. Jerome; he passed away on June 13, 1996. Moving to Dundee in 1951 from Ithaca; she worked for Seneca Foods, and Lakemont Academy before taking a position in the offices of Dr. Harpending, and Dr. Rhudy in Penn Yan, until 1962. From 1963 until she retired in 1982, she was a secretary and teller for Security Trust, of Penn Yan. Mrs. Jerome was a member of Dundee Baptist Church, and enjoyed bowling for many years. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her daughter Jerri Steger of Rochester; 2 granddaughters Michelle (Ray) Mottshaw of Rochester, and Tracy (Brian) Ace Sr. of Batavia; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a brother Walter E. Williams in 1941, and tragically her only grandson Michael Steger in 2010. Arrangements were entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.
