Esther Ruth Andrews Penn Yan/Dundee: Esther Ruth Andrews, age 87, of Penn Yan, formerly of Dundee, NY died Wednesday August 14, 2013 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY. Friends may call from 2-4 pm Sunday (Aug. 18) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm with Rev. Lucinda O'Leary officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Fire Company, or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Esther was born May 8, 1926 in Bath, NY, the daughter of the late Gustave J. "Gus" and Wilma Mead Radka. On January 22, 1943 in Watkins Glen, NY she married the love of her life Martin Andrews Jr. A life long area resident, Esther had worked in the vineyards for Ross Summerson, in Himrod, NY for 20 years. Mrs. Andrews was a past member of the Penn Yan American Legion Ladies Aux.; was an avid craftmaker, and enjoyed crochet. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband of over 70 years Martin Andrews Jr. at home; a son James Martin (Myrna) Andrews of Dundee; a daughter Carol L. Cadwell of Penn Yan; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers Amiel (Velma) Radka of Waterloo, Richard (Winnie) Radka of Dundee; 5 sisters Leah Johnson of Kentucky, Helen Ilnicki of Penn Yan, Edith Anstee of Auburn, Norma Schick of McClellandtown, PA, Joyce Waite of Dundee; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by 2 granddaughters Rachel Andrews in 1986, and Karen Conklin in 2003; a sister Lydia Beckwith, and 4 brothers, Arthur, William, Albert, and Walter Radka.
