Obituary of Margaret M. Dean

Margaret M. Dean Penn Yan: Margaret M. Dean, age 86, of Penn Yan, N.Y. died Tuesday January 17, 2012 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY. Honoring her wishes there will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 21) at the Full Covenant Church 4225 Perry Hill Rd. Altay, NY with Pastor Patricia Chilbert officiating. Inurnment will be in Philadelphia, PA at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family graciously requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Assoc. Finger Lakes Chapter, 2113 Chili Ave., Rochester, NY 14624; or a Church of the donor's choice. Margaret was born June 19, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Francis and Mary Coughlin Spiecker. She graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School in Philadelphia in 1944. On Oct. 20, 1944 in Millborn, PA she married the late David Edward Dean Jr.; he passed away on May 30, 1981. She has lived locally since 1968, previously of Langhorn, PA. She was employed in the vineyards for many years by Lew Green and the Gibsons of Dundee, NY. She had also worked as a Home Health Care Provider for many years. Mrs. Dean was a member of the former St. Andrews Catholic Church of Dundee, and currently attended St. Michaels Catholic Church in Penn Yan. An avid bowler, a former Den Mother, she used to volunteer at the Once Again Shop of Penn Yan, and enjoyed knitting, and crochet. Some of her greatest memories were made traveling over sea's with her daughter. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her 3 sons David E. (Jane) Dean III of Dundee, John R. Dean with whom she made her home, William F. (Barbara Hollenbeck) Dean of Dundee; a daughter Margaret A. (Marshall) Rubin of Liberty, NY; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
