Obituary of Shirley C. Meyers

Shirley C. Meyers Dundee: Shirley Catherine Coon Meyers of Dundee, NY, Shirley passed away peacefully at her home on January 15, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Honoring her family's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial celebration of her life with a reception afterward; will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 24) at the Lakeland Mennonite Church 389 Rock Stream Rd. Rock Stream, NY with Pastor Dale Eby officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lakeland Mennonite Church for families in need, c/o Dale Eby 4518 Lakemont-Himrod Rd. Dundee, NY 14837. Shirley was born in the Town of Starkey, November 11, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Leon R. and Margaret M. Lusk Coon. On May 25, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Paul A. Meyers. They had 4 children together and resided in the 'Meyers' family home and raised their children. Shirley loved camping, houseplants, and her backyard flowerbeds and birds. She was well known for her love of her pets. Over the years she shared her life with many dogs and several birds, with all of them becoming her family. She loved taking care of her family and teaching them how to cook as her waffles were amazing. Being a lifelong resident of Dundee, Shirley also worked at Dundee Seneca Foods Inc. She babysat her grandchildren and visited with her friends over coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. She is loved and will be missed by her 2 children, Lenny Meyers and Terry (Dave) Marchionda both of Dundee; daughters in law, Kim Johnson and Mary Meyers,6 grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) LeBeck, Jenelle Meyers, Tiffany Donk, Lou Marchionda, Douglas Meyers and Jackie Meyers; 3 great grandchildren, Kaige and Kaiden Meyers, and Travis Bush Jr; 2 Sisters, Beverly (Harry) Carlyon and Barbara (Bob) Trank all of Dundee; her God daughter, Tammy (Robert) Conover Druker who took care of her during her illness and her children Deb Conover, Kelly VanDeventer, Darian Druker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband Paul A. Meyers, a daughter Cindy Lou Meyers, a son Michael Meyers, 2 sisters Betty Smith and Annie Howell; a brother Bob Coon; 3 great nephews Jason Naylor, Keith Cagle and Richard Taylor.
