Obituary of Katie H. Thompson

Katie H. Thompson Dundee: Katie H. Thompson, age 64, of Dundee, NY died unexpectedly on Monday April 18, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital, in Danville, PA, with family at her side. Honoring her wishes there will be no calling hours or formal service. She requested a Celebration of her Life, which will begin at 2:00 p.m. "until" on Saturday April 30, 2016 at the Dundee American Legion, 10 Spring St., Dundee, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Central School Sports Boosters, P.O. Box 53, Dundee, NY 14837, or to the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Katie was born Nov. 10, 1951 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of Walter Granger Schuyler and the late Flora Mae Sweeney Schuyler. She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1969. On July 31, 1971 in the Dundee United Methodist Church she married Norman D. Thompson. A Nurses Aid in her younger years, after raising her family she began her career as a Bus Driver first for Dundee Central, then the Steuben ARC, and finally for Watkins Glen School District where she retired from in 2014. Mrs. Thompson was a former member of the Tyrone Fire Dept. Ladies Aux.; and Dog Census Supervisor for the Town of Tyrone. In her spare time she loved racing, reading, gardening, watching hummingbirds, trying new recipes from her favorite cooking shows, and anything to do with her grandsons. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband of 44 years, Norm D. Thompson at home; a daughter Katie Jane (Donnie) Smith, and a son Norman D. "Butch" (Charity) Thompson II both of Dundee; 4 grandsons Domonick J. (Taylor Gilbert) Smith, Austin C. Thompson, Cordell W. Smith, and Logan J. Thompson; her father Walter G. Schuyler of Montour Falls; a brother James (Sharon) Schuyler of Himrod; her life-long dear friend Gracie Williams of Rock Stream; numerous nieces and nephews; and several in-laws.
