Obituary of Ronald J. Johnson Sr.

Ronald J. Johnson Sr. Dundee: Ronald J. Johnson Sr., age 66, of Dundee, NY left this world unexpectedly on Friday July 15, 2016 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, in Elmira, NY. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours. Friends and family are invited to share memories at a Celebration of Ron's Life starting at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 20 at the home of his daughter and son in law Dawn & Jesse Jayne, 5036 Bill Bailey Rd., Dundee, NY. In lieu of flowers Ron wished memorial contributions be made to The House of John 14 Spring St. Clifton Springs, NY 14432. Ron was born April 4, 1950 in Penn Yan, NY, a son of the late Clinton S. and Mary Berloue Johnson. A life-long local resident, he was a truck driver delivering petroleum for Earl T. Wadham's Inc. of Phelps, NY, until sustaining a back injury in 1983. On March 29, 1987 in Dundee, NY he married the former Cheryl A. Smith. Together they founded the Johnson Family Care Home in 1988, and have been providing loving care to special friends ever since. Ron loved cars, hunting and fishing in his spare time. He was a member of Classic Cruisers Hot Rod Club of Penn Yan. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 29 years Cheryl A. Johnson at home; 3 sons Ronald J. Johnson Jr. of Arizona, Eugene L. (Melissa Irwin) Melendez of Himrod, Ramon C. Johnson of Dundee; a daughter Dawn L. (Jesse) Jayne of Dundee; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister Bonnie B. Heeman of Dundee; a loving nephew Calvin M. Smith also of Dundee; his favorite brother in law Adrain J. (Gina) Lozada of Rochester; numerous nieces, nephews, in laws; and countless friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, and 5 brothers.
