Obituary of Robert M. Crans

Robert M. Crans Dundee: Robert M. Crans, age 86, of Dundee, NY died Monday August 15, 2016 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY. Friends are invited to calling hours from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday (Aug. 21) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where his funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday (Aug. 22) with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Dundee Fire Company, or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Robert was born May 4, 1930 in Dundee, one of 3 sons of the late Leo and Florence Storms Crans. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. On June 14, 1952 in Dundee, he married the former Mary Ann Cadwell, who passed away on May 4, 2013. A life-long local resident, having lived in the same home that he and his wife had built 58 years ago. "Bob", had a diversified work history, having been a Meat Cutter, and a Milkman, before becoming an employee of Penn Yan Express. After retiring from the docks of the trucking company, he continued working for several years, for Tears Meat Market, Hepler's Hardware and Giles Shur-Fine. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, jig saw puzzles, family functions and grandkids sporting events, and socializing at the Classic Café. Mr. Crans was a member of Dundee Baptist Church, and the Dundee American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post #660. He is loved and will be forever missed by a daughter Debra A. Rider Kernahan of Penn Yan; a son Dana L. Crans of Dundee, 5 grandchildren Ben (Carrie Morris) Rider, Lynn Rider, Jeff (Kandi) Rider, Vanessa (Zachary Kitt) Crans, Danielle (Tanner Scofield) Crans; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; a brother Jerry (June) Crans of Dundee; and countless nieces, nephews, and in laws.
