Obituary of Mary E. Golden

Mary E. Golden Geneva/Dundee: Mary E. Golden, age 84, of Geneva, formerly of Penn Yan, and Dundee NY died Tuesday February 14, 2017 at the Living Center North in Geneva, NY. Friends are invited to call from 1-2 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 16). at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, NY; where her funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 2:00 pm with Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. Burial will be in Webb Mills Cemetery, Pine City, New York. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Library, 32 Water St., Dundee, NY 14837. Mary was born December 19, 1932 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late George and Phyllis Paige Golden. She graduated from Troy High School in Pennsylvania in 1950. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from Mansfield State Teachers College in 1954. Mary was an elementary teacher for 11 years in various schools moving to Dundee from Gillette, PA in 1965, to teach at Dundee Central School for 23 years, retiring in 1988. Miss. Golden was a very active member of the Dundee United Methodist Church and the Dundee Methodist Women; she was a former Social Chairman for the Dundee Teachers Assoc.; and member of Yates County Retired Educators; and the N.Y.S. Retired Teachers Assoc. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and travelling with K Ventures in her younger years. She is survived by a nephew Michael P. Golden of Elmira, NY; several cousins; a special friend Fran Raplee of Dundee; and many close friends. She was pre-deceased by a brother Kenneth P. Golden in 1988.
