Obituary of Linda S. Simmons

Linda S. Simmons Dundee: Linda S. Simmons, age 69, of Dundee, NY died unexpectedly on Monday February 27, 2017 at Schuyler Hospital, Montour Falls, N.Y.. Friends are invited to calling hours from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday (March 3) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday (March 4) with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Fire Company, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837; the Tyrone Volunteer Ambulance Corp., P.O. Box 69, Tyrone, NY 14887 or the American Red Cross of Yates County 112 Main St. Penn Yan, NY 14527. Linda was born May 19, 1947 in Montour Falls, NY the first daughter of the late Robert F. and Eleanor R. Pierce Trank. On November 7, 1964 in Dundee, NY she married Curtis F. Simmons. A graduate of Dundee Central School Class of 1965, and life-long area resident, Linda had been a waitress in Dundee area restaurants before becoming a receptionist for Unity House in Ithaca, where she worked for 15 years before retiring in 2002. Mrs. Simmons was an Honorary member of the Dundee Fire Company, Ladies Aux.; and a volunteer for the Red Cross; and had been an avid bowler. In her spare time, when not enjoying her grandchildren, she loved High School Sports, and cheering for her favorite athletes; doing crafts, and ceramics. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, Curt F. Simmons at home; a daughter Lori L. (Jamie) Johns of Dresden, a son Kevin C. (Debbie LeRoux) Simmons of Little River, SC; 9 grandchildren Jordanne (Brandon) Hillman, Jessica Johns, Jennifer Johns, Jackie Simmons, Nathan Simmons, Mikayla Simmons, Madisyn Simmons, and Cassie Simmons; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Robert W. (Barb) Trank, Terry L. (Teresa) Trank; and 2 sisters Rose Trank, and Regina (Brian) Quackenbush all of Dundee; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
