Robert Leland Sorgen Dundee: Robert Leland Sorgen, age 97, of Oxford, previously of Dundee, NY, and formerly of Fremont, OH died Monday December 4, 2017 at the N.Y.S. Veterans Home, in Oxford, NY. There are no prior calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery in Fremont, OH at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association, Rochester Chapter, 435 East Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620. Robert was born January 17, 1920 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, son of the Clarence G. and Alice Irene {Roy} Sorgen. He graduated from High School in 1938. On June 20, 1940 in Monroeville he married the former Luella B. Hak, who passed away on Oct. 24, 1993. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former manager employed by Peter Eckrich & Sons, meat packing plant in Fort Wayne, IN retiring in 1983. Mr. Sorgen was a devout Catholic having been a member of St. Casimir's, and then Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont, OH. He was also a member of the VFW # 2947, and a former member of the Moose Lodge #1286, Eagles #2295, American Legion #121, and Elks Lodge #169 all in Fremont, OH. And he somehow still managed to find time to play golf and go bowling, but really enjoyed gambling, especially in Vegas. He is survived by his four children, daughter Sharon M. Chard of Fort Wayne, IN, son Michael R. Sorgen of Rock Stream, NY, son James F. (Marlene) Sorgen of Independence, MO, and daughter Jane T. (Robert) Wolfe of El Paso, TX; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
