DUNDEE: George Edward Williams age 63 of North Port Florida, formerly of Dundee, NY passed away on March 12, 2018 after a short battle with cancer at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
George was born in Penn Yan NY, on July 3, 1954. George grew up in Dundee where he went to school. Shortly after graduating from Dundee Central School, George joined the United States Marine Corps. After leaving the Marine Corp George went on to work at Sacketts Oil, before they changed their name to Wheelers Gas Station. George accepted a position with the Village of Dundee where he worked for 21 years while also volunteering for the Local Civil Defense. After retiring from the Village George briefly worked in the winery industry at Pompous Ass Winery, before moving to Florida in the winters. George enjoyed watching NASCAR and fishing in his free time.
George is survived by his companion of 12 years Judy Johnson; his son Charles Williams; step sons Richard Pym and Gregory Pym; sisters Joyce Downey, Darrell (Rodney) Bassett, Debbie (Edward) Evans, Karen (Larry) Towner along with several aunts uncles and many nieces and nephews.
George is predeceased by his father Edward Williams, his mother Arline Jayne Williams, his brother Donald Williams, and his sister Pamela Darue.
Upon Georges wishes there will be no calling hours. A celebration of His Life will begin at 3:00 p.m. Saturday June 2, at the Dundee American Legion 10 Spring St. Dundee, N.Y. Inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday June 4 in Hillside Cemetery in Dundee.
