Obituary of Sally Ann Leonard

Sally Ann Leonard DUNDEE: Sally Ann Leonard, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday (March 20, 2019) at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, NY after a brief illness. At her request there will be no prior calling hours. Friends and family are invited to a graveside memorial service at 1 pm Sunday March 31st at the Hillside Cemetery, in Dundee, NY; Followed by a celebration of Sally's Life at 2 pm at the Seneca Lake Duck Hunter's Club on Route 14 in Dresden, NY. Sally was born August 13, 1942 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Anna Scutt. A lifelong resident of Dundee, she graduated from Dundee Central School in 1960. She worked as a waitress at many restaurants, including her father's restaurant, Ken's Luncheonette. She also worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed being a member of a bowling league with her friends. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She married James Leonard in 1983. She retired at the age of 70 and moved with her husband Jim to Lafayette, NY. Sally was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, who most enjoyed being surrounded by her family. Sally was happiest on Garfield Ave in Dundee spending time with her grandchildren and good friends. Sally had a vibrant personality, and made friends wherever she went. She loved her wine time, and shared many happy memories at their camp in Six Corners, NY with Jim, family and friends. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time at Charleston Lake, Ontario, and Alexandria Bay, NY. She is loved and dearly missed by her husband, James Leonard; daughters, LeAnne Prior of Dundee, NY, and Polly (Dan) Hughes of Otisco, NY; son, Robert (Lora) Prior of Dundee, NY; step-daughters, Tammi Mcllwain of Beaver Dams, NY, and Tonia Christenen of Watkins Glen, NY; grandchildren, Andrea (Corey), Matthew (Amanda), Jake (Caitlin), Samantha (Matthew), Mackenzie (Lauren), Nicholas, Amanda (Dylan), Colin, Jessica, and Ryan; along with several great-grandchildren; brother, James Scutt of Penn Yan, NY; many friends and her beloved dog, Bailey. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the American Heart Association or the SPCA.
