Hi Jane and family
I must say this is a trying time for the world. In a roundabout way I had been searching for Sandy and came across this sad news.
I remember fondly staying with you and Roger - the apples and pumkins and baking and large jar of Rennies (coloured sweets). 1993
I can remeber the name of the road: Upper Stump Road. The rows of apple trees the farmstall
I can remember the warmth of your kitchen - you were both very kind to me - if I think back on it now it was truly amazing as our only connection was via Sandy. You guys did not feel like stangers at all but quite the opposite.
Please accept my condolences for your loss.
A small part of you and Roger stays with me as if yesterday.
Love

Dear Jane and family, I am so grateful for the opportunity to know you and Roger in my time at Dundee. Roger was such a happy, giving person and I love each time I saw him he told me he "was an athlete" no matter how he was feeling. I think of you both often and hope memories bring you peace in the days to come. Deanna

I wish I could remember all the wonderful adventures Roger and I had together growing up very close to the campus of South Dakota school of mines and technology. Just a couple of blocks apart we would spend our time taking outings to the Museum at Tech or into the bowels of the Steam Tunnels where we would pilfer sodas and stash them in our dirt in the open cut behind the college . We might also stop by my dad's garage to jump start our model airplane engines. From there we would hike a few blocks across from campus all the while keeping the thing running at high pitch all the way to the roof of the ROTC building where would light the screaming balsam plane on fire and heave it off into a final flaming flight over the football field ..
Roger was graduating about the time I returned from Vietnam and commenced down a similar academic path. Upon completion of both a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering Riget saw tonitbtgat I had a chance to work for his company , American Can. Later my path took me back to Tech and we. Tossed paths again.Roger was now selling his operation in Pennsylvania and reinvestingbin two enterprises, one a 40,000sq ft bakery in Cozad Nebraska and the other a couple of vineyards near Seneca Lake NY..
I cannot speak of Roger briefly. A best friend and a continuous demonstrator of persistence and bravery this sometimes gruff man with a Ben Franklin presence was a wonderful friend and guide to me . Many thanks Roger. Butch.

Today is a hard one. I wish I could have been there to see you off. You will never know what a large roll you were in helping me become who I am today. I have always known you to be a intelligent, strong and caring man. There was never a conversation I had with you where I didn’t learn something. Regardless of the topic it was always interesting and deeply profound. I know that more then anything you wanted to know your family was happy, healthy and successful. For that we will be. I will be. In one way or another your legacy lives on. I will do what I can to honor it. I will remember you as I drink my favorite wine, one of you many creations. Thank you for all you are and all you’ve done. I love you grand father.

Roger, always had a smile to greet all his guests. I enjoy baking and was fascinated by his bakery. More then once he took me into the bakery for a grand tour and told me about his work. Tabora is an asset to the community. I'm sorry for your loss.
