Obituary of Jeanne R. Murdock

Jeanne R. Murdock Penn Yan: Jeanne R. Murdock, age 68, of Penn Yan, NY passed away Friday August 6, 2021, at Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home; after a long courageous battle with a rare undefeatable illness. Honoring her wishes there will be no prior calling hours or formal memorial service. A Celebration of Her Life will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Saturday Aug. 28, 2021 at the Penn Yan Moose Lodge 301 East Elm St.. Inurnment will be Benton Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton Fire Dept. 932 NY 14A, Pen Yan, N.Y. 14527. Jeanne was born March 13, 1953 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Paul B. Armstrong Sr., and Dorla Marie (Rice) Armstrong. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1971. Continuing her education in business, Jeanne accepted a position at Keuka College right after high school, working there for 10 years. On April 15, 1972 in Penn Yan, she married Robert J. Murdock. Once they started their family she worked nights at Friendly's Ice Cream in Geneva so she could share the task of raising the children. In the early 1990's she returned to her field of expertise, accounting for the Penn Yan Central School District where she was employed for 25 years retiring due to health reasons as Assistant Superintendent for Business in 2016. Mrs. Murdock was a member of the Benton Methodist Church; a former Lady of the Moose, and current member of the Penn Yan Moose Lodge; she "Loved Camping" and even bowling in her younger years. She is love and will be forever missed by her husband of 49 years Robert J. Murdock at home; her mother Dorla M. Armstrong of Penn Yan, 2 Sons Chris R. (Patty Scutt) Murdock at home; Nicholas J. (Hannah Wheeler) Murdock of Penn Yan; 2 granddaughters Madisyn Murdock, and Molly Murdock; 2 brothers Paul B. (Sharon) Armstrong of North Hampton, MA, and David L. (Lois McMichael) Armstrong, and a sister Kelly Armstrong, sister-in-laws Mary Ellen (Larry) Allen, and Jean, wife of the late Don Murdock, all of Penn Yan, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Father Paul Armstrong Sr. on Nov. 17, 2003. Arrangements were entrusted with the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.
