Obituary of John M. Hungerford

John M. ''Jack'' Hungerford Dundee: John M. ''Jack'' Hungerford, age 59, of Dundee, NY passed away on Saturday September 25, 2021 in the comfort of his home. Honoring his family's wishes there will be no prior calling hours. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 12, 2021 in Hillside Cemetery, Route 14A, Dundee, NY with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1120 S Goodman St, Rochester, NY 14620. John was born Nov. 5, 1961 in Elmira, NY, one of nine children of the late Frederick C. and Jane A. (Dewey) Hungerford Jr. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1980, and continued his education in "The School of Hard Knocks". He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1980 and served four years active duty having been stationed in England, and Lubbock, Texas. On Nov. 14, 1981 in the Dundee United Methodist Church he married his High School Sweetheart, Annette D. Woodard. They returned to Dundee in 1984, and he continued his Military Service in the Army Reserves, and the Air National Guard until 1993. "Jack" as he was known by many worked as a Fabricator for F.L. Hughes in Rochester for 13 years. He worked at Rochester Rigging as a fabricator for close to ten years before starting his own business. He proudly owned and operated J&J Contracting & Home Improvement up until his health forced him to retire this past summer. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and collecting tools. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 39 years, Annette D. Hungerford at home; their four children Nichole M. (Matthew) Austin of Penfield, NY, John M. Hungerford II of Hornell, NY, Brandy L. (Steven) Sanfilippo and Katie M. Hungerford all of Palmyra, NY; 3 grandchildren Benjamin Austin, Aubrey Miller, and Arianna Hungerford; 8 siblings, Daniel C. (Margaret) Hungerford of Endicott, NY, Ellen M. (Scott) Wood of Himrod, Frederick C. Hungerford III of Rochester, Janet A. (William) Timer of Port Ewen, NY, Kelly J. Woodford of Savage, MN, Catherine F. Ziarno of Canandaigua, Brenda L. (Daniel) Cullen of Binghamton, NY, Amy L. (Lester) Miller of Dundee; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister in law Darlene Hungerford, and a nephew Daniel Cullen. Arrangements entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.
