Obituary of Lillian D. Mathews

Lillian D. Mathews Dundee: Lillian D. Mathews, age 79, of Tyrone, NY originally of Carthage, NY, passed away Tuesday August 9, 2022 in the comfort of her home with her family at her side. Calling hours will be from 12:00 -1:30 p.m. Monday (Aug. 15) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. After which everyone is invited to a Celebration of Her Life Reception at the Dundee American Legion. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee American Legion, 10 Spring St., Dundee, NY 14837 or the Tyrone Fire Department, P.O. Box 69, Tyrone, NY 14887. Lillian was born Dec. 15, 1942 in Carthage, NY, the daughter of the late John J. and Eva B. Champion Morrison Jr. She attended Carthage Schools; before starting her family. She has lived locally since 1982. A full time "Mom" and loving grandmother, known to many as "Grandma Lil" she loved raising her large family, and still managed to work many different jobs, but was happiest in the vineyards. In her spare time, she liked rummage sales, loved hunting and fishing, but could always be found in the kitchen cooking enough to feed an army. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her 4 sons, David (Shannon) Cummins of Florida, Daniel (Valerie Stratton) Cummins of Prattsburgh, NY, Edmund Cummins of Carthage, NY, Aaron (Becky) Mathews of Watkins Glen, NY; and her 3 daughters, Shirley Cummins, and Ruby (Steven) Campany both of Carthage, Amy (Michael Sonner) Mathews of Watkins Glen; 28 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; 2 brothers Eugene (Sandra) Morrison of Hammondsport, NY, Edward (Patricia) Morrison of Elmira Heights, NY; numerous nieces, nephews, and step children. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her husbands Edmund J. Cummins, and George L. Mathews; and 2 brothers George Morrison and John J. "Jip" Morrison III.
