Obituary of Mark Everett Dean

Mark Everett Dean Penn Yan: Mark Everett Dean, age 47, of Penn Yan, NY lost his battle with addiction on Monday October 17, 2022. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of His Life Saturday (Oct. 22) from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm at the Dundee American Legion, 10 Spring St., Dundee where a Tribute Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Mark's name to a Local Substance Abuse Recovery, Program of the Donor's choice. Mark was born September 22, 1975 in Rochester, NY. Raised in Dundee before moving to Ohio, he has lived locally again since 2005. Mark enjoyed working with his hands in any form of construction or general contracting, having worked for numerous construction companies over the years. In his spare time he loved to draw, having a very artistic natural talent. He enjoyed fishing, and sport related video games, especially football having been a devoted life-long Dallas Cowboy fan. He will always be loved by his 3 daughters Catheryn R. Dean and her son, Mark's only grandchild Caleb Dean; Cassandra M. Dean, and Keiarra M. Howell; his mother Sharon M. Wartinger; and all 3 of his life's father figures, Peter Wartinger, Mike Thompson, and James Empson; mothers of his daughters, Michelle L. LaFave, and Trisha L. Howell; his siblings sister Kelly L. Gibson, brother Anthony R. Wartinger, and sisters Michelle M. Gause, Jenna R. Thompson, and Danielle R. Gray; maternal grandmother Jean Dean; maternal grandfather Gerald Buck; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. No one sets out to be a drug addict. Mark struggled for several years with the addiction that ultimately took his life. Often addiction is hidden but Mark was never afraid. His story is a sad one. The family hopes that others find and receive help for loved ones with the same problem. Mark was a loyal friend, quick to lend a hand or give words of support to others, especially those struggling with addiction. He will be forever loved and missed.
