Norman Gary Knight Watkins Glen: Norman Gary Knight, age 73, of Watkins Glen, NY lost his battle and passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Saturday November 12, 2022. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours. A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 am Friday Nov. 18, 2022 in the Altay Baptist Church, 4289 Six Corners Rd., Dundee with Preacher Floyd Wicker Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hosp., Memorial & Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905. Norman was born March 17, 1949 in Miami, FL, the son of the late J Lynn and Avis M. (Road) Knight. He served from 1968 – 1970 in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Moving to the area in June of 1979 from Mount Dora, Florida; on Nov. 3, 1979 in Alpine, NY he married the former Joyce Arlene Blake. Norm began his working career as a welder & fabricator for Shepard-Niles Crane & Hoist, where he worked from 1980-1998. He transferred to Cameron Fabrication in Horseheads, for a year, then to Foster Wheeler of Dansville for a year before accepting a position driving tractor trailers for 20 years for the former T&D Transportation out of Syracuse, NY. He retired in 2018; and then began driving for local Mennonites for 3 years. Mr. Knight was a member of the Altay Baptist Church; an 18 year member of the Montour Falls Fire Dept. his community involvement was unselfish, as he was a member of "Team Love Bug" for Relay for Life-Schuyler Co. for 11 years. He and his wife founded Boating for a Cure on Seneca Lake; raising over $5,000 several years in a row for Relay of Life. His love of motorcycles had him involved with the Patriot Guard, and a member of both C.M.A. Christian Motorcycle Assoc., and AZUSA Street Riders - Apostolic Motor Ministry of Jesus Christ, motorcycle club. He attended and road in Rolling Thunder in Washington, DC, twice, including the 30th Anniversary. His truck driving skills earned him the 2014 T/A Petro Truck Stop Driver of the Year Award for having logged over 4 Million Accident Free Miles driving both single and double trailers. In what little spare time he had in life, he loved all 3 generation of his grandchildren; fishing, and collecting fly fishing equipment, and of course riding his prized motorcycle. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of just over 43 years Joyce Arlene Knight at home; 4 daughters; 4 sons; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; and his dear friend and 'Brother' Harold (Monda) Ayers of Reading Center, NY.
