William Michatek posted a condolence

Greetings from Fr. Bill Michatek, now a retired priest of the Diocese of Rochester with 55+years of service. I was pastor of St. Michael's Penn Yan and St. Andrew's Dundee from 1982-94. This was my first pastorate after 24 years as associate and my only assignment in the "country" which I loved.
As a rookie pastor Earl was a great help to me
with his faith and leadership in organizing the parish. After 12 years I got to know him and his family well. I saw him at many a wedding and had his photographic help in organizing a parish photo directory.
I offer my sympathy to his family and friends and know he has answered his last call which will be peace at last where he can intercede for us. Thanks for the memories, Earl . May you be at peace.

Q: What 3 words best describe Earl and why?
A: When Earl worked at Morton Salt there was a time that he sent a message on a pallet return sheet to Kim Kuhnle of Kuhnle bros trucking. All it said was NFG. Now Kuhnle didn't think that was right so the paper was forward to the salt company corp office. Well that rocked the boat real hard that day. I never heard Earl's side of the story but when he was told by Morton to explain to Kuhnle what nfg stood for this was his answer. The last time I drove for Kuhnle that paper was framed and hung on Kim's office. you ready for this
Earls response " Non-fixable grade"
Boy did we ever have a lot of fun working out of that mine when it was open.

Q: How did you meet Earl?
A: I didn't really meet Earl, but I've spoken with him through the 22 years that I've worked at the Cathedral Latin Alumni Association. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He was a wonderful man.
Sincerely,

I remember Mr. Lauer fondly from my days growing up in the Dundee Central School District. He was a kind man with a keen eye behind that camera of his. As an athlete, you always hoped that Mr. Lauer would be at your event to catch that once in a lifetime shot. I was one of the lucky ones, as he captured my first ever dunk in a basketball game. I still have that framed 8x10 to this day. Thank you, Earl. You will always be appreciated.
