Obituary of Stewart F. Merritt

Stewart F. Merritt Jr. Dundee/Chubb Hollow: Stewart F. Merritt Jr., age 81, of Dundee, NY died Sunday January 1, 2023 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY. Stewart was born June 30, 1941 in Bath, NY, the son of the late Stewart G. and Margaret (Rugg) Merritt. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1959. On Aug. 5, 1960 in Penn Yan, NY he married the former Carolyn E. Jayne. He retired in 2011 from owning and operating Chubdale Farms for 69 years. In his younger years he enjoyed Pheasant Hunting on the multi generation family farm with his children and friends. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Carolyn E. Merritt at home, his 4 children, James (Lee) Merritt of Penn Yan, NY, Robin (Richard) Slaby of Little Sioux, IA, Judy (Joseph) Woodruff of Penn Yan, & Stewart Merritt III at home; 6 grandchildren James Merritt of San Francisco, CA, Jordan Merritt of Mount Joy, PA, Morgan (Carson) Beasley of Easton, MD, Daniel Morehouse of Dubai, Joshua Woodruff of Penn Yan, Justin (Samantha) Woodruff of Rushville, NY; 13 great grandchildren Lucas, James, Oliver, & Doris Beasley of Easton, MD, Malory & Brent Morehouse of Kentucky, Maksim & Laikyn Woodruff of Penn Yan, Jayden &Austin Mincer, Landon, Paislee &Nolan Woodruff all of Rushville; along with several nieces and nephews.
