Marge and I were good friends even when she left my neighborhood here in Florida. We walked our dogs together, sat in her living room many days. My dog Jimmy was always on her couch. She called him Jim Jim.
We also put snacks out for the children who came to Faith Baptist church. She was dearly loved by so many people.
She walked with her walker a few hundred feet to our clubhouse and made sure everything was all ready for Bingo. With all of her physical ailments, she did circles around people healthier and younger than herself. She was an incredible inspiration to me. Her many talents were shared especially with children. I will miss talking with her on the phone. I know she is perfectly happy and healthy in heaven.
Love you Marge.

Our sincere condolences to all family and friends of our dearly beloved Marge.
Dear Marge, you were not only a friend and neighbor, but a part of our family. You were always there for us, especially when our mother was suffering from cancer, you were there to ride her to the doctors' appointments, you were there for us when she passed away; you were there when we celebrated birthdays and holiday seasons together. We had a great admiration for your constant desire to help people, to have a positive attitude, and to serve the Lord in any way possible. We just spoke to you on the 31st and you were so happy to receive the Christmas gifts we sent you. And then the news came that you were gone... suddenly. We are in much grief and we miss you everyday dear Marge. But like you said, we will meet in glory! Until then, you enjoy seeing the Lord Jesus Christ face to face and and meeting everyone who has preceded you there - including my own Mom and Dad. Love you always,
Tiba and Dan.

Marjie was not only my aunt but amongst the favorite persons I’ve been fortunate to have had in my life. She was so goodhearted and such an influence to me growing up. She was hardworking, responsible, understanding, compassionate, loyal, nonjudgmental and extremely generous with her love. There just aren’t enough adjectives. My grandmother always said that Marjie was born an old soul. She came into this world with an innate sense of caregiving, decency, respect, and a generosity that only grew and she spread throughout her life. She knew how to make you feel loved, included, and bring you a smile.
Some of my fondest memories growing up centered around Marjie. From visits on Pine Street with birthday cakes with sparklers when there were no candles, Boots & Snickers, including us kids at the kitchen table playing Uno with all the grownups, her gifting us kids a pair of puppies at Christmas (I remember the look on Mom’s face and of course Marjie’s grin, chuckle and that twinkle she would get in her eye when she knew she was being just a little bit bad but enjoying it so very very much), the multiple road trips to and from Virginia with a car full of kids, and she and John’s wedding at which time I had never seen her happier. She so loved the Thomas’s so very much and I am so grateful of the love that they welcomed and shared with her. Despite all the changes in family dynamics, she was always a constant and truly loved unconditionally. Her being there for you was never an obligation to her but because she truly cared.
As an adult, she was there loving my husband and doting on my daughter as only a proud aunt could. There were Thanksgivings at my house which were made all the more brighter with her and John. It was her with me by my side when Dad passed away with his final arrangements. It was helping to fill that empty nest void days after Cassidy went off to college when she came to stay with us with countless hours of conversation and games of Hand and Foot at the kitchen table. It was long phone conversations reminiscing and catching up on family, new grandchildren and then great-grandchildren that she loved so very much. There were lots of “ya know”s when she was being playful or when speaking a truth to offer advice. And only Marjie would leave you 2 minute or longer voicemail if she happened to miss you on your birthday still being sure to fill you in on the family happenings and that you were thought of on your special day in a way that only she could.
She has and will be forever in our hearts!

I worked with Marge at Public Health for many years. Marge was a cheerful Home Health Aide who helped many people stay in their homes. I know she brightened their lives. We could not have served our clients without people like Marge.

I am very sorry for your loss. Marge was friends with my parents Red and HaZel Smith. From Paradise Park in Reading to Zephyrhills Fl. I first met her she brought peaches to camp and we froze peaches. I also would go to Florida to visit my parents and Marge would pick me up at the airport in her PT cruiser. I’ll miss her kindness and friendship with al of us. Rip Marge.

Q: How did you meet Marjorie?
A: I have known Marjorie and her husband John for over 30 years. They were very good friends with my parents Leroy and Martha Shirk.
When they came over for a visit they would almost always have ice cream. We always appreciated that.
I remember Marjorie when she had some very good personal advice for me, however I didn't receive it willing, I now regret my selfish choices.
Her memories will never be forgotten.
Some sweet day on the other side we will all be happy together again.
Love and prayers,
Leroy Shirk Jr
