Dad,
What can I say about you? It’s truly difficult to put it into words but I will do my best to keep it short and sweet. You are my hero for being a great dad that I was able to learn so much from. Not only from your talks and lessons but from your journey throughout life. Your hard work and determination were ever present and were staples of your life. Always showing us that you must take advantage of every minute and give it your all to stay in the moment as it’s happening.
As a young man you enlisted in the army and served our country admirably and faced many trials and tribulations that would stick with you throughout your days. To have a fraction of the courage that you had would be a win for myself. War and carnage bring a heavy burden on everyone involved. In that time, men were supposed to be strong and not able to talk through issues which didn’t help the healing process. Overtime you were able to start dealing with the thoughts and memories, which was not an easy thing to do. Seeing you grow into the loving caring person that you ended up becoming is a testament that life is what you make of it. The drive and passion that you put into it can do incredible things and you can conquer tasks that seem unobtainable from the start. Quitting smoking, quitting drinking, of course just a few small examples but we were able to see your struggles and your win over both of them. Looking back I remember your drive and the focus on these and other decisions showing you were putting family first. I am by no means a perfect person and you showed me that is OK, and life is your time to grow, make mistakes and learn from those mistakes ultimately coming out a better person on the other side.
The love that you shared with your family and friends was awesome to see. All the grandkids adored you and loved everything that you shared with them. Always putting them first even if you were in severe pain at the time. I will always remember Karson’s first fish that he caught out of your beloved goldfish pond that no one was supped to mess with. Of course, you made an exception that created a wonderful moment for everyone involved. That is a memory that will always bring a smile to my face.
Seeing you and Mom together as a team all these years through the good times and the bad is a testament of the promises you made to each other. I can truly say that I am proud of both of you for setting the example that you did.
I am going to miss our talks, the lessons and stories you would share, watching you bring joy to the kids, having you has my rock who is there through the good and the bad. I know you will be watching over us and I know you were able to look at your life and feel overjoyed with the journey. I love you and miss you so much!
Love
Jason

Charlie, We knew each other one day and knew we would get married. When we did, some said give it three years. Well, Babe, its been 52+ years, with three fantastic children, 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. I think we deserve for people to know we are so proud of them all. We have lived through a lot, more you than I. The pain you suffered was horrendous. The memories of the war remained always. But amazingly when anyone asked considering your pain, wheelchair and health problems you have now, if you had to do it over, would you do it again? Your answer was always: "Yes, I wanted to help keep communism out of the USA." You are not only my husband and best friend, you are my hero. I love and miss you so very much; but knowing how much you loved me will sustain me forever. I wrote a song for us, in case we lost each other, many years ago and I'll write the chorus here now. The title: Darling
Never forget the day I meet you
Never forget the day I fell for you
Never forget the day we said I do----
Never forget the days our sons were born
Never forget the day our daughter was born
Never forget that I love you--------
So long for now until we see each again.
Forever and Always

I once saw a quote that went something like “ Family isn’t always defined by last names or blood, it’s defined by commitment and love. It means choosing to love each other even on the days you struggle to like each other, and never giving up on each other”. That is the quote I think of when I think of Poppy Sipley.. We aren’t related by blood but Poppy chose us as his family and took us in as his family. I spent a lot of weekends at their house growing up and loved every story he had to tell especially the goofy ones. I loved going into to his office and him showing us all his cool gizmos and gadgets… Most of all I loved how excited and happy he was to meet all of my babies.. We are so lucky Poppy Sipley chose us as part of his family..

Easily one of my favorite memories of Mister Sipley, Charlie, is when Jason and I were about 9 years old. An erratic driver nearly hit Jason in front of their house and the driver slammed on his brakes and proceeded to yell at Jason and I…..until Charlie appeared.
It was one of those awesome moments, especially as a young boy, where you’re terrified and someone comes to the rescue. I don’t recall the exact details of the exchange, nor would it probably be appropriate to repeat if I did, but the gist of the encounter was the driver left with his tail between his legs and we were safe. Charlie was the hero that day and for several others in recounting the story on the bus.
I recall playing volleyball at the Sipley’s with their family and friends and Charlie told me to stop “showing off”. It turned out he wasn’t complimenting my volleyball skills but rather pointing out that my fly was down, an incident that everyone, including myself, got quite a laugh out of.
I also remember being extremely honored that Mister Sipley shared with me some of his experiences in Vietnam, something I know he didn’t do regularly or with ease. The thing that consistently stands out in my memory are the discussions with Charlie and is his adherence to integrity and doing what was right, regardless of the topic.
And those are some of the many facets of Mister Sipley that made him great. His sense of humor, his character and his kindness made him a pleasure to be around. I, like countless others, will greatly miss that presence.

Sweet precious sis.
My heart is breaking for you with the passing of your husband, Charlie. You were not only his wife but caregiver.
You both loved each other so very much.
Charlie’s eyes would light up when you smiled and came near him. He depended on you but also needed to be in control of his life.
I will miss his smile and laughter. He encouraged me so much. We would talk and I would learn from him how much he cared and loved his family. I will always remember the rides he took us on. He would show me things I would never see without him. He is my hero.
He struggled so much with so many things mostly pain.
I thank God for ending his struggles for he has no more pain.
I picture him laughing, smiling, running in a field of flowers with Jesus, and telling stories to the children for he loved children your Charlie.
You two made a great team. I know you will miss him. Grieving deeply shows the great love you have for him.

Charlie would always say I was like his 1st born and made me part of a larger family with my cousins. Charlie was always teaching us from the time we could walk about life.(Also how to use a knife, axe and gun) I will miss his great smile, humorous outlook and his constant love no matter what I did. They don't hand out Bronze Stars to just anyone yet the fact that Charlie was awarded one of the highest military honors our country bestows wasn't something he readily shared. He was quiet and humble about his military service.
His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy, he definitely wasn't quiet about that. His love for them was evident in every way.
My favorite memory of Charlie is easily his sense of humor. I usually tried to sit next to him at family picnics because his one liners were so funny. The only thing better was that hallmark chuckle. I can still hear it.
A hero rests easy now and his spirit is onto the next place.
With love and sincere condolences,

Charlie was one of the most kindest humans I have ever met. He always was warm-kind and did his best to make everyone feel comfortable with a hug or joke. His love for his family and grand children was one to be desired. He truly cherished his wife as she was the love of his life and was often heard saying he would not know what to do without her. His presence will be missed but his kindness and love he showed all of us will always carry on and will never be forgotten. I am thankful to have had him in my life and my sons. Some of my fondest childhood memories are when everyone would get together at the family reunions at G’ma’s’ every summer and on opening morning of hunting season too. While I loved seeing everyone, Skeet was one of the people I really looked forward to seeing and loved catching up with. He always had that wonderful grin and that sparkle in his eye too. (I can still see it today). He was funny as any comedian, a strong man but a very kind man as well, and he always had sound life advice for us younger guys (whether you asked or not) and man he could tell a story! Truly a great and loving man who will be missed by so many. Godspeed Skeet! We all love you man.

Memories, where does one begin? So many, some sad but mostly happy. "Cuz" as he was fondly referred to could retell a story like no other. No matter how many times retold it would be hilarious each time. The voices and facial expressions he would use made you burst in to laughter to the point of tears. Whether recalling bear hunting, playing tricks on kids at family gatherings or talking about Pop Starr showing up at the house drunk and passing out on the floor.
Skeeter's sense of humor was off the cuff. We will miss those stories and the laughter they brought.
Skeeter you are loved and will be missed.

There are too many memories to share. Everyone who knew him, knew he was the most loving, caring, and genuine person. They also knew what a huge jokester he was! I always called him when I heard a new joke, both cheesy, and BAD jokes! He always laughed with me and shared jokes that usually topped mine. He always treated me like I was his blood granddaughter. He told me every time I saw him how proud he was of me. I am so incredibly lucky to have been loved by him, and grandma! I will miss him forever, but will carry his unconditional love with me every day. ♥️

I first met Charlie over 35 years ago when they had moved to Dundee and our youngest sons were in the same grade together. I remember how I was imitated by Charlie when I first met him. As I got to know him and some of his history, the imitation grew into admiration. When I would speak of him with other people, it was always with that admiration for what he had accomplished, believed in and endured.
Since Melanda and I had become very special friends, he knew he was stuck with me, and we became good friends too. After I remarried and moved farther away, we didn't get to see each other very often, but our friendship grew even stronger.
I will always cherish that friendship and those memories will occupy a special place in my heart.
