Obituary of Lorna Dorthy Hathaway

Lorna Dorthy 'Doe' Hodge Hathaway Dundee: Lorna Dorthy 'Doe' Hodge Hathaway, age 77, of Dundee, NY went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday September 15, 2023 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. The family will receive friends from 12:00 -1:00 p.m. Friday Sept. 22, at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service of Salvation will be held at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Semans officiating. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may direct them to the family. Lorna was born March 19, 1946 in Montour Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Merritt A. and Harriet C. Simpson Hodge. On November 27, 1980 in Ovid, NY she married Richard G. 'Buck' Hathaway. They have lived locally since 1994, previously of Romulus; where she was employed for 18 ½ years in the Food Service division of Willard State Hospital, in Willard, NY, retiring in 1993.. 'Doe' as she was fondly called was a member of the Rock Stream Presbyterian Church, and it's Ladies Aid Society. A true "People Person" she loved helping people, and was involved in many extracurricular activities and programs. She was a devoted advocate and promoter of Breast Cancer Awareness. And may be remembered for her time as an Avon, Tupperware along with a few other in home sales rep positions. In what little spare time she had having raised 4 children, she enjoyed latch hook, and plastic canvas crafts. She was loved with all his heart by her husband of almost 43 years Richard G. 'Buck' Hathaway at home; along with 3 sons Michael A. (Peggy) Weber of Lansing, NY, Kurt J. (Kimberly) Hathaway of Newfield, NY, Kevin R. (Angie) Hathaway of Seale, AL; a daughter Cheri L. (Wilmer) Zimmerman of Manheim, PA; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 2 brothers Lyle Hodge of Pennsylvania; and Larry Hodge of Texas; a sister Linda (Paul) Rathbun of Trumansburg, NY; and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by 4 sisters Lenabelle Hodge, Leola Young, Loretta Smith, and Lois Jackson; and a brother Lawrence Hodge.
