Obituary of Anna E. Davis

Anna E. Davis Waterloo/Himrod: Anna E. Davis, age 82, of Waterloo, NY formerly of Himrod; died unexpectedly on Sunday January 20, 2013 at Geneva General Hospital, in Geneva, N.Y.. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Friday (Jan. 25) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice. Anna was born August 25, 1930 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Frederick and Laura Putman Root. On Oct. 23, 1948 in Newport, NY she married the late Ira A. Davis, who passed away on Aug. 29, 1983. Moving from Cold Brook, NY to Himrod in 1958; Anna ran a commercial green house, for over 20 years, growing all varieties of house plants, with her favorite, being African Violets. She was employed by Seneca Foods in Geneva, and then Northland Cranberry, in Dundee, retiring in 2000. She moved to Waterloo in 2004, and since 2008 to the present, she was working in the Experienced Works Program in Geneva. Mrs. Davis formerly attended the Dundee United Methodist Church, was a member of the Yates County Farm and Craft Market; and enjoyed knitting, crochet, and fishing. She is survived by a daughter Shirley A. Westcott of Geneva; a son William H. Davis of Middlesex; 3 brothers Karl (Jackie) Root of Waterloo, Douglas Root of Horseheads, Philip (Carol) Root of Cold Brook, NY; a sister Rosemary Seville of Haddon NJ; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
