Obituary of Mary C. Crans

Mary C. Crans Dundee: Mary C. Crans, age 81, of Dundee, NY passed away Saturday May 4, 2013 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY. Family and friends are invited to call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (May 7) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (May 8) with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company, or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Mary was born March 21, 1932 in Dundee, NY, the youngest daughter of the late Leo F. and Jennie Cornish Cadwell. She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1949. On June 14, 1952 in Dundee, NY she married Robert M. Crans. After attending Cosmetology School, she decided to change career directions and became a receptionist for Dr. Waters in Dundee for a few years before starting her family. Once her children entered school she became a teachers aid at Dundee Central School, where she worked for over 20 years retiring in 1994. Mrs. Crans was a member of the Dundee Baptist Church, and served as a volunteer on the Dundee Board of Elections. A loving wife, mother, grand and great grandmother; she will be dearly missed by her husband of 60 years, Robert M. Crans at home; a daughter Debra A. (Rider) Kernahan of Penn Yan; a son Dana L. (Sue) Crans of Dundee; 5 grandchildren Ben Rider, Lynn (Andrew) Campbell, Jeff (Kandi) Rider, Vanessa Crans (Zak Kitt) and Danielle Crans (Billy Cunnane); 10 great grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was pre-deceased by 4 brothers Benny Cadwell in 1991, Robert in 1999, Leo in 2009, Ernest in 2011, and a sister Jean C. Inscho in 2012.
