Obituary of Joanne P. Martz

Joanne P. Martz Dundee: Joanne P. Martz, age 85, of Dundee, NY died Thursday August 27, 2020 in the comfort of her home. Honoring her wishes there will be no calling hours or service at this time. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 63, Dundee, NY 14837, or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Joanne was born October 22, 1934 in Blossburg, PA, one of 10 children of the late Wayne A. and Maude M. {Mortensen} Barr. On Sept. 30, 1951 in Penn Yan, NY she married Charles F. Martz. A lifelong area resident, she was employed by Seneca Foods, in Dundee, as a book keeper for 22 years, retiring in 1990. Mrs. Martz was a member of the Dundee Methodist Church, the Southern Tier Bluegrass Assoc.; was a former bowling league member. She was an accomplished musician, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with her family. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Charles F. Martz at home, 2 sons, Charles W. Martz with whom she made her home, Chris F. Martz of Dundee; a grandson Shawn Martz of Dundee; a great grandson Zeth Ryean Martz; a brother John D. (Mary Ellen) Barr of Mansfield, PA; 2 sisters Dolores L. Paddock of Weston, NY, and Caroline R. Partridge of Penn Yan, NY; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by 5 brothers Philip W. Barr, Richard E. Barr, N. Dale Barr, Gary S. Barr, Keith S. Barr; and a sister Jane L. Wetmore.
